Inspired by Chicago Rapper Common’s 2000 Hip-Hop Magnum Opus, The Light is a love story about the beauty that emerges when black men and women come together to be each other’s greatest ally in not only love, but in the distinct struggles they face in this oppressive world.

Presented as part of The New Colony’s Writers’ Room.
