Perfecto Diaz (yes—that’s his real name) is a Chicago-based playwright, born and raised on the West Side. He earned his BS in Theatre from Ripon College, and most recently, took writing classes at Second City (Writing 1, Writing 2, and Memoir).
He interned for American Theater Company where he facilitated collaborations between eighth-grade students, local playwrights, and members of the Logan Square community to produce and stage an original docu-drama based on the neighborhood. As a Teaching Artist/Company Actor/Company Writer at Child’s Play Touring Theater, Perfecto wrote and performed over fifty educational plays based on elementary school students’ original stories. His current works-in-progress include a collection of short stories based on urban childhood and a full-length play The Gringa And The Gardener.
He is excited to be working with a great group of writers and looks forward to creating new and interesting theatre!
