Maria is a founding member of the Board of Directors of The New Colony. She holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, IL and currently works as an independent information consultant. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Information Science in the graduate schools at the University of Washington, San Jose State University, and Dominican University, where she teaches Marketing, Online Searching, Reference, and Collection Management. Maria is a passionate advocate for libraries and the role of librarians in contributing to an informed and literate citizenry.
Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Maria has been a Chicago resident for 13 years. She has three children under the age of six and as much as she loves spending time with her family, one of her favorite recurring escapes is an evening out with her husband to see the latest New Colony production.
