Kayla Lane Freeman

Kayla Lane Freeman is a writer and performer in Chicago, by way of Austin, Texas. She has studied and performed comedy since 2010 in Austin, NYC and Chicago. Her comedic plays have been produced by The Crowd Theater, The Annoyance, The New Colony side stage series, and other independent companies in Chicago. Autobiographical shows she has written and performed, Ankle Boots: Absurd Miniature Memoirs I & II, were official selections of the 2014 and 2015 Chicago Fringe Festivals, and winner of “Best of Fest” in 2014. She was the recipient of the 2016 M.E.H. Lewis Promising Playwright Award from Chicago Dramatists, a SWARM artists’ residency participant in 2016, and a Nominee for the 2013 Humanitas Angell Comedy Writing Award. She is the Playwriting Editor of The Wax Paper literary magazine, a co-facilitator of The Crowd Theater’s Writing Workshop, and a frequent improviser about town.
