Kayla Lane Freeman moved to Chicago in 2013 after graduating from The University of Texas with degrees in Radio-Television-Film and American Studies. Since 2011, she has studied and performed over 150 improv shows in Austin, including once improvising onstage for 44 hours without sleep, only stopping for 10-minute breaks. Kayla has also devised, written, directed or acted in a variety of original theatre productions, from an intimate one-act about love and geometry to an epic-scale comedy about teenage cheerleaders. Kayla is passionate about interdisciplinary arts, new works, and collaborating with others to make and do cool things. During the day, she works as a youth creative writing instructor, helping young people also make and do cool things. Kayla is grateful and excited to be working with The New Colony.
