John Holt

John is psyched to be collaborating for the third time with the New Colony, following his work on Sordid Little Story and Rise of the Numberless. John serves as production designer and technical director for the Inconvenience Artistic Syndicate, which he co-founded in 2008. John has played an integral role in events since the company’s inception, designing and collaborating in the creation of the play festivals Strapped and Post-Traumatic, as well as Brett Neveu’s The Earl as a co-production with A Red Orchid Theatre, The Fly Honey Show burlesque, the original dance salon Standing Room Only, the A Little Bit Louder Now live music series, and the world premiere of Ike Holter’s Hit the Wall as part of Steppenwolf’s 2012 Garage Rep.

Other favorite Chicago designs include Paloma Querida with Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Passing Strange and Aida for the Bailiwick, Riff Raff for Mary-Arrchie, Arrangements for Pavement Group and Paper Thin Walls for Abraham Werewolf. Other current work includes Proof for the University of Chicago’s Theatre and Performance Studies department.”
