James Fleming
Director of New Work

James Fleming is a Chicago-based director, Associate Artistic Director of Redtwist Theatre and Director of New Works at The New Colony. His work has been seen at Goodman Theatre, Route 66 Theatre, Redtwist Theatre, and The New Colony. His production of Our Town at Redtwist Theatre was Jeff Recommended and ran for eight weeks to critical and popular acclaim. He has assistant directed at Goodman Theatre, Court Theatre, and Greenhouse Theatre Center. At About Face Theatre, he served as line producer of the world premiere of WHAT’S THE T?, devised by the About Face Youth Theatre ensemble, and brought the show to Red Tape Theatre and the National Museum of Mexican Art. He has served on the literary panels for the National New Play Network’s Annual Showcase of New Plays, Route 66’s TEST DRIVE, and Kitchen Dog Theatre’s New Play Festival. James was a participant in the Chicago Directors Lab and is a member of the SDCF Observership Class for 2017-18. Upcoming projects include: the Chicago premiere of MJ Kaufman’s SAGITTARIUS PONDEROSA at Redtwist Theatre, the world premiere of Fin Coe’s FUN HARMLESS WARMACHINE at The New Colony, and the world premiere of Marilyn Foster’s GHOSTLIGHT at the Sandusky Theatre.
