Gail Black

Gail Black is thrilled to be a part of this extended family of the “Byhalia, Mississippi” cast.  She comes to Chicago having just completed a successful four-week run of the show in Memphis as part of the World Premiere Conversation.
Born in Mississippi, Gail is a veteran of the professional and community stages in Memphis including Playhouse on the Square, The Circuit Playhouse, Theatre Memphis, and Voices of the South.  Her last appearance onstage was as “Wren Robin” in Evan Linder’s 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis. Some of her favorite past performances include Clairee in Steel Magnolias, The Duenna in Cyrano de Bergerac, Miss Shields in A Christmas Story, Frankie in Frankie and Johnny in the Clare de Lune, Lorena Cosburg in Holy Ghosts, and a variety of characters in the 8-hour epic production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby at The McCoy Theatre at Rhodes College.  She works as an Occupational Therapist and is the happy rescuer of Roscoe the Beagle and Ivory the Greyhound.
