Beth Kander is a novelist, playwright, and performer, creating new worlds by night and working in the nonprofit world by day. She moved to Chicago from Jackson, Mississippi, in 2014. In Mississippi, Beth was a founding member and president of Fondren Theatre Workshop, and also involved with New Stage Theatre, Mississippi Theatre Association, Offkilter Comedy, and lots of other stuff. She has scripts represented by Steele Spring Stage Rights and Chicago Dramaworks, and degrees from Brandeis University and the University of Michigan. Since getting to Chicago, Beth has worked with Stage Left Theatre (Downstage Left Playwriting Residency 2014-2015; Leapfest 2015) and The Neo-Futurists (“Pseudo-Chum”), taken classes at Second City, spent way too many hours rhapsodizing about/consuming all of the glorious food in this city, and is incredibly excited to step in to the Writer’s Room.
